Puerto Plata

I’ve been fortunate to visit Puerto Plata two times… known for its butterscotch beaches and as an affordable vacation destination. Puerto Plata is on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, situated between the mountains and the ocean.

The destination is great for both resort goers and those seeking an independent adventure with apartments and condos readily available.  Most resorts you’ll find just outside the actual city of Puerto Plata, in the Cabarete and Sosua areas and beyond.

With flights available from around the world, it’s an easy place to get to for many travellers. From Canada, most charter airlines, including Transat and Sunwing, provide service as do both Air Canada and WestJet .
