3 Day Sedona Itinerary

3 Day Sedona Itinerary Sedona’s the kind of place you can easily spend 5-7 days. Even in a week you’ll never fit in all the hikes and tours and exploring that’s available. It’s definitley a place that lends itself well … Continue reading →

Morning on the Grand Canal the day we left for Rom Morning on the Grand Canal the day we left for Rome… two days is not enough! I’ll be back 😍

Cinque Terre translates to ‘five lands’ or ‘ Cinque Terre translates to ‘five lands’ or ‘five villages’.
Cinque Terre National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We visited four of the five, as Corniglia is harder to get to… I personally think spring or fall is the better time to visit.
It’s best done when you can take your time and not be rushed. However, if you have to do a day tour like us, don’t let that stop you!

1. Manarola

Our first stop was Manarola. We headed for the water first to take a look at the harbour. Here we found a small café where we could grab a cappuccino and a pastry to go.
If you follow the trail to the right up along the cliff, you’ll see some spectacular views, looking back over the village and Harbour.

We then headed up the hill for some views looking down over the village. After a short visit and a little bit of exploring, we headed back to the train and on to the next town….

2. Riomaggiore

I found the town of Riomaggiore to be exceptionally scenic yet compact- with a very small harbour and a steep central road up through the village.

I made my way up quite far until I found a flat area and a church, and a view down over Riomaggiore.

3. Monterosso

The largest of the five villages and my favourite 🤩
This is the only village you’ll see cars in, and only village residents are allowed to have them there. (That’s what I heard)

Monterosso is the only flat village, which makes it easier getting around. It’s also more of a resort town with an actual beach and beach promenade, several hotels and Airbnb‘s, and many shops and restaurants.
The old town is lovely and lively. I plan to stay in this village if I have the good fortune to visit again.

4. Vernazza

The most popular and busiest of the five, it has a tiny harbour and colourful houses surrounding it and lining the cliffs above. We took a short ferry ride here from Monterosso, which allows you a different perspective of the village and the best arrival view in my opinion.

If you are able to and have the time, do a short hike up the cliffside trail and you won’t be disappointed. The view looking back over Vernazza is spectacular ❤️ 😍

The Colosseum at night… I love the way it looks The Colosseum at night…
I love the way it looks at night, lit up perfectly, a giant, ancient, piece of history just blending in amidst a modernized Rome. The past working so well with the present…

Gelato, Gelato, Gelato! Of the four towns we vis Gelato, Gelato, Gelato!

Of the four towns we visited in Cinque Terre, We had the most time to spend in Monterosso Al Mare.

We had lunch here first and then did some exploring …

Monterosso was my favourite with its mix of the old town and new town. And, I found the gelato shop I was searching for, Gelateria Golosone. I had pistachio and hazelnut…

I had read about this place before I came, and since there’s a gelato shop on every corner in Italy ( it seems ) I wanted to do my research lol.. to sum it up, avoid bright colours and heaped up piles… best if the gelato is covered and more natural shades…

Definitely plan to return here someday! ❤️
